Orientation Weeks

CUCSA NewsPosted by Ceris Aston Sat, September 12, 2009 20:06:25
Hi,

We're all very busy at the moment putting the final touches on the plans for Orientation Week activities for the new students over the next fortnight. GU and UWS start on different weeks this year so we're running two weeks with similar activities, hoping to give our new Crichton students an opportunity to meet each other and get their bearings. Students from GU are welcome at the UWS Orientation Week events and vice versa. (The events on these weeks can be found on the 'latest events' page on the website.

We have a new temporary Events and Administration Officer, Steph Carrick, a recent graduate from Glasgow University, Dumfries, and it's great to have her. Enormous thanks both from myself personally and CUCSA as an institution to Anne Barclay who worked incredibly hard for the students on campus during her time here.

Really looking forward to meeting all of the new and continuing students in the next few weeks. Hopefully you will settle in well and enjoy the activities CUCSA hold. We would love for you to get involved with CUCSA- whether helping at events, becoming a member of the executive committee or just coming up with bright ideas. If you have any questions, email me at president@cucsa.org.uk.

See you soon!

Ceris

Hello!

CUCSA NewsPosted by Ceris Aston Wed, July 01, 2009 12:29:02

Hi! My name is Ceris Aston and I'm the CUCSA President for 2009-10. If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas then do contact me. I'm very happy to help if you have any concerns or are curious about any aspect of student life at the Crichton campus.

If you'd like to be involved in arranging social events and representing the students, amongst other things, then join the CUCSA executive-you'll help improve the university experience for yourself and others, meet new people and hopefully have a fantastic time. All students of the universities on campus are welcome.

At the moment we're working on the social programmes for the Orientation and Freshers' Weeks. We're working closely with the clubs and societies on campus as well as coordinating with the staff of the different universities to make sure that students get as much as possible out of these weeks.

We have Summer School students around campus at the moment and it's lovely to see them all. Hopefully some of them will join the Crichton in September. Yesterday we had a barbeque and a game of football on the lawns behind Rutherford-McCowan. My plan had been to relax in the (very hot) sunshine with a glass of wine and to cheer on the staff and students participating. The best laid plans eh? I count it as a triumph that I didn't score any own goals and survived the game...

I'll update soon.

Have a fantastic summer!

Ceris
